HBS Club of Austin Donates $3,000 to Breakthrough Austin

HBS Alumni Club Helps Low-Income Students Enter and Graduate College

HBS graduates Doug Plummer (MBA '92), Kirsten St. Croix (MBA ’01) and Bill Loven (AMP 167) present Breakthrough Austin with a check.

From the proceeds of their HBS Global Outreach Event on November 30, the HBS Club of Austin was able to donate $3,000 to Breakthrough Austin (www.breakthroughaustin.org). Their mission, quoting their website, is as follows:

Breakthrough provides a path to college, starting in middle school, for low-income students who will be first-generation college graduates. The program admits students as 6th graders and makes a six-year commitment to helping them graduate from high school and enter college.

The Club chose Breakthrough Austin based on their excellent reputation, and the educational connection. Club president Kirsten St. Croix says: "As HBS grads, we know the power that education has to transform lives. We are thrilled to be able to support an organization that helps kids in Austin become the first in their families to graduate from college."
